In Loving Memory Of Donald D. Lapre

A Message From Don's Mother:

Comments :Thank you so much for making this Web Site! I just tonight realized I could go to the comments and read all the nice things people are saying about Don! I was crying and it helped me feel a lot better for a little while anyway! I miss my Son and always will and I don't think my tears will ever stop! He was a wonderful Son from day number one! He was truly a Saint! He was always full of love and wanted to give it to everyone! Anyone who didn't know him really missed out on meeting one of the most wonderful people on this earth! From the day I brought him home from the hospital he was the best baby going! He was born when the Beatles were just starting and Don was born with so much hair that all the doctors and nurses would come and ask to see the Beatle Baby! I had to give him a haircut as soon as I took him home because he had a rash in back of his neck from the long hair! At his 2 o'clock feeding he wouldn't cry. He would only make a little noise to let me know he was hungry. My father asked me one day, (Doesn't that baby ever cry?) No he didn't! He was a happy little boy from the start! Just thought I would break up the sadness for a little while by telling all of you a little about him. I want to thank you all for telling your nice stories about Don. Nothing is harder than losing a Son and I will never get over the loss that was so unfair and so unnecessary! I am 70 years old now and it is the first time I am happy I am getting old because I know I will be with my Son again soon! In the meantime, I still have my other four children that I love so very much and lots of wonderful grandchildren to love and they all have big hearts like Don! I have been blessed in many ways but this will be the most painful thing I will ever go through! I miss you Don so very much and I would have given my life for you to have enough strength to fight them and come back to us again! Thanks for being the best Son, Husband to Sally and Father to you children! Thanks also for being the best brother the other kids could have had! Rest in Peace Don until I see you again! Please God take good care of my Boy and thank you for the time you let me have him! Rest now Son until we meet again! Love MOM xoxoxooxooxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxooxoxoxo

Comments : I am going through the lowest time of my life, sometimes I feel like I don't have the strength to overcome, I really get down and hopeless as I have lost everything I ever worked hard for, health issues and my wife left me. I pray a lot for miracles but I know I need so many of them for every area of my life as I have lost motivation and enthusiasm in life. But then I remember and hear stories of people like you Don, and what you had to deal with, it gives me the courage and inspires me to fight, in your name as I can relate and see a lot of you in me and for that I AM HONOURED. You were and are truly an inspiration to me, I will never forget you. I am very deeply saddened about all this, it really hurts, It shows that life is not fair, but God is fair! I promise to stand up and give life my every bit of strength I got and never give up! R.I.P. We will all die one day and return to our creator. God Bless us all.

Comments : I thought of Don today. I am a self employed successful business owner for the past 20 years - and I owe my start in business to Don Lapre. I purchased his Making Money program in the early 1990's. Although I wasn't successful with 900 numbers, his books and video and information gave me the motivation and ideas to pursue other types of businesses. Today I own and operate a successful video production company. I still have Don's "11 Secrets to Success" video and look at it now and then for inspiration. Don was a good man. He made me smile when I saw his commercials and I'm very sorry that he is gone. Thank you Don.

Comments : I first seen Don like many others in the mid 1990s on late night tv, and it didn\'t take long before he peaked my interest, I bought his making money package and actually made money, like someone else said, you have yo work it, it takes effort. So many people think that\'s all the effort they have to do, buy the materials and push the button and the money rolls in, sorry folks it dont work that way. There are different ways to make money in this world but regardless of how you do it, it takes effort in some way shape or form. When God banished Adam and Eve from the garden of Eden he made that true he told them they would work and sweat for their food and whatever they got. Don Im so sorry that you reached such a low and dark moment in your life that everything seemed so hopeless. I never met Don in person, but he did seem like a cool guy, i enjoyed watching you on tv Don and as the years went by from time to time I would check in on ya, many late nights I searched the internet to see what you was up to. Sadly the last time I looked for you was when I was shocked and stunned to hear the news of your passing, I am Sad you\'re not here anymore, you gave people hope Don, when people ordered your programs the was really buying you Don, they loved you you had \"it\". You made people realize there is more out there than the 9-5 existence, you just have to want it bad enough, passion, intensity, hope is what I got from Don. Nobody has the perfect business, but as Thedore roosevelt said \" Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those timid spirits who know neither victory nor defeat\". Until we meet again you will be missed Don..... RIP

Comments : Hey Don,
Just read your story in the September 2012 issue of Playboy.
I am so saddened. I did not know this was how your physical life came to an end. Tears came to my eyes.
Although I never bought any of your products but I of course watched your infomercials all the time.
I too have been an entrepreneur all of my life. I truly believe you wanted to help out the other guy more than yourself.
I am so so sorry. What a loss we had with your passing. I wish we had known one another. We were just less than a year apart in age. You are still inspiring me to be better!
God bless You and your Family. Rest In Peace.

Comments : Just read the article in Playboy about Don; such a sad story. It jarred my memory of the man and his infomercials that I would see in the late nights of my twenties. I feel so sad for his family and friends. At least he had a nice run of happiness, being able to share his wealth with his "extended family". :)

Comments : I just heard of Don Lapre's passing. Although I have never purchased his materials or met Mr. Lapre I have learned from him. I learned that you will never get ahead if you don't do something. I learned that there is hope. I'm very sure that you were a wonderful person. Thank you Don. Rest in peace and God bless your family.

Comments : As I write this, my eyes fill with tears not because of Don\'s passing; he accomplished more in a short period than millions will ever do in their entire lives. Though I never bought anything from him, I would sit for hours watching him on television as a young boy in high school with no purpose and it is only now that I realize that for all the scams he was accused of, he planted the seed in my young brain that made me realize there was more to life than miserable toil in a career I did not want. His craziness, his bravado gave me what no other teacher, professor or literally anyone had told me before; that I didn\'t have to settle, that there were no guarantees in life, that I could have whatever I wanted if I only wanted it bad enough. As far as his crimes, as the old saying goes: \"If you want to make an omelette, you\'re going to have to break a few eggs.\" I salute you Don Lapre, for giving me hope, for telling me I have the right to be happy with my life and to never settle. May God bless your soul and look past your transgressions.

Comments : You, are going to be so excited, let me explain why,...
Don was a great inspiration to me and all those that worked for him. His whole purpose was to teach others to create and live a life of happiness and success. I remember the first time I walked into Tropical Beaches. Bright, positive energy overflowed the space. Everybody was happy to be a part of this team. Murals and photos as big as roller-coasters and a lesson to motivate others woke me up and prepared me for every day in his office. The music was loud and the office exuded an energy like a professional fight. We loved working for Don. He would feed us the best food for the mind and not just the body, every day. We would work late obviously b/c it was our job, but b/c Don Lapre Gave the best work environment possible. Gifts, cash, vehicles, and success were all great motivators for some who worked for Don, but all of us truly loved him. We were inspired! I am still inspired because of him! I remember being so focused, and looking up to see his daughter skateboarding through the office. She always had a smile that was so contagious. Don and his backwards ball cap,... lol... He is a true Champion! Don Created champions, Don and Wendell, and Ray V., and April, Dean, Mary F., Susan R., Tim W., Orlando, Even Dan-... the best griller ever,(I could keep going, there were so many great people there) helped to create an honest, desire to succeed in not just me, but also my peers at the time, and the millions of followers that to this day still love Don Lapre. You always called me and everyone "Buddd". Thank you Don. We miss you dearly. You lead many to greatness, and your efforts are still working through many of us today!!!

Comments : Although I never had the opportunity of ever meeting this very hyper and energetic pitchman I was given the GREATEST "Gift" of all by him and his late night infomercials and that "Gift" was "HOPE". Even though I never made a fortune off of using his materials or products I still adored and respected him none the less. Deep down inside I felt that he had a God given gift and he had the ability to make you believe in him because he had "CHARISMA". Every night when I stayed up to watch his infomercials because he made you feel like you could do anything you set your mind to. Don had that special inner quality that made you "like yourself" and start believing in your own abilities once again. I ask you: What's wrong with that? I never in my life ever saw or heard a person in my entire life more sincere and honorable than Don Lapre and now that he is no longer with us I feel that the world is more lonelier without him because he brought things and people around him to life. I believe that Don was persecuted and that he got a raw deal too. I pray that his family will be left alone to continue on with their lives in Peace and Solitude. May God Bless them as well. RIP Don Lapre. Looks like GOD was ready for the ultimate pitchman up in heaven.

Comments : Don Lapre was one of the first people, outside of my grandmother (may she rest in peace, as well) who got me to understanding at a very young age how important it was to have something besides your job to feed your family. In this day and age, there is no such thing as job security and a business that can systematically work beyond your own hands is a wonderful thing. Of course, working at a job is nothing to sneeze at either. I did try to do the tiny classified ads but it didn't work out. I didn't want my money back or anything. i just figured I either was doing something wrong or it wasn't meant for me. I, however, am deeply sorry that something he worked so hard for and felt so much passion about didn't come to pass. Even if all he gave the world was inspiration, myself included, his mere existence wasn't in vein. Thank you for what you gave me-- the knowledge that it was ok to have perseverence, positivity, and an indomitable spirit.

Comments : Very nice gesture putting up this site. Folks like you make this world a better place. You have a heart of compassion and that is pleasing to God. I pray you are blessed for these efforts and I'm praying for Don's family. I just heard about this and it makes me sick to think he was pushed this far and died alone in a jail cell. God forgive our country for what we have become.

Comments : Don inspired me to be the man I am today. I worked for Don for quite a while and it is because of him that I became a millionaire. If you worked for Don, then you will remember the Bazooka bubble gum they threw at us as treats and commissions. Remember him playing the Rocky song "eye of the tiger"? Now you know i worked there. Don, I cried when you left us. I just wish I was there to comfort you but I wasn't. I miss all of the "making money tv show" people. We always had fun and remember what Don told us.
"If you ever want to quit and start your own business, then I will help you". I took his advice. I still have the original newspaper ad with the girl on the raft in a bikini and the ad stated "Come work at the greatest place on earth". I still have my trophies and the silver dollars. Miss ya Don and friends.

I was blessed to work for you selling The Greatest Vitamin, and proud to have had an opportunity to experience your energy and learn how to sell with your program. Working as an Account Executive for you was easliy the best job I ever had, and I will always be grateful to have had a chance to work for you.

Comments : I first saw Don Lapre's infomercials on the USA cable network in mid-to-late 1993. He was the first person to get me excited and to want more out of life.
He just had a way of inspiring an average Joe like me to get out there and try to do something big.
I am saddened by his passing, and bummed that I learned about it 5 months later via his Wikipedia page..
You were a good dude, Don. I hope you have found peace.

Comments : We are a capitolistic society. I never heard of Don putting a gun to anyone's head to buy his products. We ALL know, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. It is also true that ANYONE can make it, but you need desire, passion and drive. Most do not have such, so, as followers, they fail, then blame another. Don, I understand your vision, I understand your pain, what I don't understand is how you must have felt when you made the choice to take the action you did. But that again is YOUR RIGHT! Sadly, you could have got through it, you had a big family and you could have sold your story after the BS system was done with you. But...only YOU know what you feel, only YOU know why....it is NOT up to anyone else to tell YOU who you are or what to do. My pain is that my brother too took his life the same way, this perhaps is the hardest part for me. I cannot wrap my head around such an action but I can wrap my head around your pain. I hope you found the peace you were in search of, I hope you found the love that eludes most, most of all, I hope you are in a place that is above all else. I wish my voice could have reached you in your darkest hour, you had so more to teach and share. Just know, there are people who care. May GOD be with you......fly FREE!

Comments : I just read his indictment and can't figure out what crime he had committed. Those people who complained were idiots to think you could make a fortune with anything without doing nothing. Exactly how are payments to his advertisers fraud? I make a living via affiliate programs and have to compete with thousands of other people selling the same products as well. I still manage and it is not impossible. The fact is most do not stick long enough to it. I think Don was railroaded on this one. I can't see why the opportunity he was selling was not legit. I agree that the core real issue was his sale of vitamins, not fraud. The controlling interests are very sensitive about that field.

Comments : I used to watch his late-night infomercials when I was in high school.I never bought any of his products. Had we met in person, he might've sold me a jar of sand while standing next to the beach. His charismatic personality taught me how to act with people when I really wanted to get something. I learned that from him and it was free. Thanks Don, God Bless you and your Family.

I never had any business dealings with him or anything, but I remember his late night commercials, and I would always stop and watch him! He was clearly a very talanted and carismatic individual. It's sad to hear his life ended this way...

Comments : Don has been a great inspiration through his Tv appearances to me when I was younger, getting broke and needed that special inspiration to push my life forward financially as well as spiritually. He helped me to see the positive and that things can be done when you work for it and your smaller and/or bigger dreams can be achieved. Thank you Don you inspired me when I needed it and you gave me great hope. I`m very grateful for it and will always remember your positive smile and that great hope you projected for me. I`m very happy and very grateful that "I stumbled on" You Don. Thank you and Rest in Peace.

Comments : Late at night, unable to sleep, I was wondering what had become of Don as I had not heard about him for about 10 years. Deeply shocked & saddened at learning of his passing only a few short months ago.
Back in the mid 1990's, I like many others, must have seen his late night infomercials hundreds of times over a couple of years. His positive attitude was very infectious on me & had a great effect on me even though I hadn't bought anything from him.
One night, I decided that it was worth the price so I decided to "go for it" & purchased his "Making Money" package. The materials were delivered in a week. I was very surprised at the amount of material that was included. While going through the materials, I immediately realized that there was more more than enough information, that if I did not make money, it was NOT because I had been fleeced. Rather, it was due to my not putting in the work (and TIME) necessary to turn a profit. I sincerely believe that he was targeted by the FDA simply because he was seen in so many homes. His success was an example that his programs COULD be replicated by ANYONE willing to work hard for it. Sadly, too many people have been raised with the incorrect notion that being successful only requires paying $39.95 & nothing else.
Look at the numbers of small businesses started every month & fail a few short months later. I guarantee those people lost much, much more than the $39.95 that was the cost of Don's package and no charges are filed by the FDA!
Being successful in business (and making money) can take some people a few
months and others it can take a few years. In either case, it takes significant time AND effort to make it work. I hope Don's legacy is that people realize this simple concept, never stop working to fulfill their dreams and if they fail, to not blame someone else; but rather work that much harder. Rest easy now, Don. God Bless you & your family!

Comments : Wish I could have met Don. I just learned of his passing and am saddened. I was a young man the first time I saw Don and he was inspirational. I ordered his Making Money Program and actually made money from his principles. The best part about Don was that he made you feel like you could conquer the world. Such charisma. I still believe in myself and part of that was from Don. He picked me up when the chips were down.
Thanks Don.
God Bless all of your friends and family.

Comments : He inspired me, and he offered many what they could not do on their own, DREAM. I did pay $40 and read about how to make money, just like the books I still buy today. It was welcome info that I would did it all over again. It takes alot to just put your self out there and he did. There are so many things now wrong in our country and the FDA is a fine example. RIP

Comments : I've never bought any of Don's products and can't tell you if he was innocent or guilty of his charges.
I can tell you it is a crime that nobody on Wall Street has spent a day in jail, nor even been charged with the crime of selling worthless sub-prime mortgages to unsuspecting customers around the world.
Wall St crooks literally made billions from products they themselves called "garbage", only to be bailed out to the tune of $700 Billion at the threat of bankrupting the entire financial system.
I guess the Fed's were too busy hunting down Don Lapre. Americans can now feel safe with Don Lapre off the air forever.
R.I.P Don. I never bought any of your products but you sure did entertain and motivate millions of people.

Comments : I never bought any of Don's products, and never really knew him more than what I've seen on infomercials. I agree with many of the comments here, he was an inspiration to many who had a view of the good world through his eyes. It is very sad how this ended for him. I saw his earlier ads, and did not know about his death until mentioned by "The Five" on fox news. So I thought I'd look him up online and found this site. I also did not know about Don getting into the vitamin business. Based on what I have read online, I am convinced that Don became a target when he got into the vitamin business. This is always a problem with vitamin supplementation and everyone should be forewarned. The PHARMACEUTICAL industry is always on a lookout for threats to their BOTTOM LINE such as vitamin supplementation. If Don becomes successful in getting everyone healthy through vitamins, this would hurt the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies, which as full of politicians they use against threats to them like Don was. To his mother, I am a mother of 8 and can feel the pain and sadness in your heart. I believe that Don is in the good graces of The Highest and is looking down at all the good things he has done while on loan to earth. I see him smiling and at PEACE.

Comments : I bought Don's course back in the day. It was the first time I invested in my financial education. I've seen a lot of people whining about his products being a scam. My experience is the opposite. He had a very positive influence on me. The concepts in his Making Money course were basic business fundamentals that I still use in my company today. I appreciate his work. My sincere regrets to his family.

Comments : I saw this website shortly after Don was arrested. At that time I don't remember seeing any comments, and I had no idea who created this site, or why. Over the years I've seen many posts on the Internet from people who said Don's program was garbage. Most of them, after explaining why Don's programs were useless, then went on to tell you that their program was so much better... in other words, they were selling their own program by denigrating Don's first. I recall how disgusted I was with the fact that on the one hand they called Don a crook, and leaped right into trying to convince the reader that their program was so much better. Truth is, if their programs were really that good, they would have been able to sell their programs on their merits alone. The fact that they led off with "Let me tell you why Don Lapre's program sucks and mine is better." (I'm paraphrasing, obviously) and the fact that they started their sales pitch by calling Don a crook just proves that the disreputable person wasn't Don, but rather, the person doing the name calling.

Don NEVER called anyone a crook. He never stooped to such tactics to sell his program... he didn't have to. Reading the posts here prove that. Don was all about positive thinking and I know that if someone tried to have a conversation with Don that was negative in nature, he wouldn't have participated. Wouldn't that be wonderful if we all had that approach to life.

I came back to this website because my niece Debbie (Don's sister) told me about all the positive things people had to say about my nephew. If I were to leave this earth tomorrow, I seriously doubt that so many people would have such kind and positive things to say about me. I like to think I'm a good person, and in my heart, I know I am, but I've been quick to open my big mouth, in a moment of anger, without giving much thought to how my words would hurt someone. My nephew never did that. He was extremely kind hearted. His greatest joy in life wasn't making money, but I using that money to enrich other people's lives, including mine.

I worked for Don and I didn't always agree with him on matters of business, and at point I was angry with him for a perceived slight, and my words to and about him were neither kind or generous. Don forgave my angry words almost as soon as they departed my mouth... it took me a while longer to forgive him, and when I finally did, I realized it wasn't he who needed my forgiveness. I needed to forgive myself, and I needed to learn to control my anger so that when I felt slighted, I took the time to consider whether or not I was behaving rationally.

I'm happy to say that the differences Don and I had were settled years ago. After the Feds raided his business, and at a time when he needed moral support, I thank God that I took a moment to send him an email to let him know that I loved him. Had I not done that, I know I would have regretted that for the rest of my life. I, like so many others, was the recipient of Don's generosity, and when I read all the tributes to him here, I'm overwhelmed at the love that is out there for Don, from those who knew him, and from people who never knew him. Thank you all.

Comments : I remember the first time I saw Don on TV. It was in 1999 and I was in 9th grade. I had a strong desire to be extremely successful. I was going through some really hard times and I knew money could solve them. Dreams of endless vacations and tropical resorts were always on my mind. I needed the ultimate lifestyle and I knew it would be mine if I wanted it bad enough. I wanted the money making system that he was selling and I used what little money I had to buy it. I remember reading all of the books in the program as soon as it arrived. There was alot of good advice in those books. I never actually placed any ads, but I did end up starting my own business a short time later. Now 12 yrs later at 27 yrs old I am finally starting to realize these dreams. I make good money and I credit Don Lapre with giving me the spark that started me on my journey.

Comments : He will be missed. May god give strength to his family.
I remember watching him when I was really young. I was from a very small town. The type where you were lucky if you made it out. He was among the influences that let me know it was possible to succeed. I think that is why he was so successful at what he did. It wasn't about the product. It was about seeing the world through his eyes. Full of opportunity.
I feel he was wrongly targeted by government agencies. The culture of no one being responsible for their own actions.
The world needs people like Don now more than ever. We need people like him to tell us that it is ok to succeed. We should be encouraging people to pursue their dreams.
Until we meet again,
Bryan

Comments : Basically people bought $52mm of business opportunities and only made $6mm of commission. This is in line with any business opportunity or business in general. 1 in 10 new businesses make it past 1 year in business.
Don paid himself $2mm out of $52mm the company took in - that is less than 4% of revenue, which is less than what most business owners pay themselves. I don't have any experience with the business opportunity, but the numbers don't support this being a scam.
This is dissapointing for our country - we should take this approach to dealing with entrepreneurs.

Comments : Don was a visionary.
Because people did not follow through with his programs, they jumped on the bandwagon that he was dishonest . . . not true. His programs save me tons of research, but to make them work, you had to work them or the idea. I did not use any of Don's programs that he advocated. I figured that the field would be too filled with others trying. But I applied the principles to other ventures of mine and succeeded due to Don't guidance.
His down fall, I feel was orchestrated by the Pharma Companies that abhorred such a product getting into the market place.
The man was a giant and for a short time walked amongst us.

Comments : I remember following Don's career throughout my adult life. He was an inspiration to many individuals. No measure of justice requires this ultimate sacrifice. It is tragic when someone takes their life and especially when it did not have to end this way. No one knows what was going through his mind in has last days, I can only imagine the deep, deep sorrow he was experiencing as his life was unraveling. And I believe this sorrow did not come from fear of his present circumstances, but instead it came from something else. The end of a dream. For someone who lived life daring to dream and then having the dream taken away from him, it may have been too much for him to bear in his time of greatest need. My heart-felt condolences to his wife and children. It will not be easy for you to move forward, but move forward you must for the sake of your family. Now more than ever, it is time to find the inner strength within you. I promise it is there. Seek and you shall find it.

Rest easy Don. Nice job while you were here . . .

Comments : Right now times are tough for everyone and I looked up Don Lapre on my computer last week to see what he has been up to and possibly get some inspireation. I was very surprised to see that he was no longer with us. This whole thing reminds me of preston tucker. I'm not sure of how many of you are fimilar with him but he was very inspired to make the best car in the world and was squashed by paid off government officials who were supported by the big three auto makers that couldn't afford to have a car on the market better than what they were producing. The prescription medacine and health industriy is big business and in my opinion is extremely corrupt. They have enough money to make anything happen and a good house cleaning in our government is way long overdue. We may never find out what really happened in this case but my prayers truely go out to don and his family.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to express my feelings and condolences.

Comments : I never knew Don, but I remember staying up late during the 90's to watch his infomercials. Around 1996 I worked for a company and with a guy named Mike whom had a family reunion picture on his desk. In that picture, was Don Lapre.
Mike was able to get me a free Making Money package and I looked it over and though it looked interesting, I never progressed any further.
Don always looked genuine and sincere on his show and based on stories from Mike, he was indeed that way. From what I was told, Don was the nicest, kindest, and generous person that anyone would know.
I was told that one of Don's family members was down on their luck, so he bought them a house and a car and gave them a job within his company.
Again, I personally never knew Don, however I wish I had.
It's unfortunate about the circumstances in which he passed, leaving behind a wife and kids. I have my own family and can only imagine their pain and loss.
You'll be missed!

Comments : Don inspired many of us. Myself included. I purchased the make money package years ago. Got what I ordered. I also purchased some of the 900 numbers. I placed ads, I made money. Did I get rich? Nope. It paid for itself, made a few extra bucks. You get out of anything, exactly what you put into it. Don's programs were no different.
Each person is responsible for their own actions. Don held no gun to anyones head. No one was forced to do, and or, purchase anything. You did so in your own free will. Due diligence must be conducted on any business opportunity. To come back and complain after the fact is simply asinine.
The bottom line is the people did not work Don's program. They did not put more money into the programs to advertise and work them, hence they made no money. I guess the age old adage of it takes money to make money is too difficult of a concept for some to comprehend.
The feds here are as much of a joke as those who filed their frivolous complaints.
It's a sad day. A truly great and innovative man is no longer with us, or his family. A great injustice all the way around.
Don, without your inspiration, I would never have gotten out to 'do my own thing' -- No telling where I would be today without you, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Peace be with you, and your family.

Comments : I remember Don's late night infomercials of the 90's, the tiny little ad from your one bedroom apartment when he was pitching it from the yacht. And i thought to myself, there is hope for me. I grew up poor but knew i was going to have to work hard but Don gave me inspiration. Hope. I never bought from Don because i was always too broke, but after i graduated college i got into sales, i always tailored my salespitch with his sort of passion. I always kept Don in mind, I was the one thing i was known for. My passion. What i never told anyone, was that i stole that from Don Lapre. You made my life better Don and you made me more successful in life. Whenever i think of infomercials, i think of Don Lapre. No one else. I always will. To me, there was no other. He was the one chosen with his gifts. And this is how he was treated. Almost seems like something out of the bible. After hearing that you brought that sort of integrity and passion into your family life, with your wife, and daughters, it really makes me think you are a true role model, american hero. Very honorable man. I just logged on to you tonight thru google to get some excitement and enthusiasm for my next pitch, and found out you were gone. I was shocked. I can't tell you how sad this makes me. I'll never forget you Don. Hopefully we'll meet someday. But i'll never forget you. You were the greatest infomercial pitchman i'd ever seen.

Comments : I just found out about Don's death now and I cant believe it happened...
Let me first say that i was given a $5000 bonus check for selling the most vitamins in one month...i received over $10,000 in checks within 2 months.
The problem is when people don't succeed they blame Don Lapre when they should've blamed themselves. Why would they blame him when he gave them the opportunity in the first place? What a shame to hear that so many complain because of their own failures.
Anyhow, Don, at least you know that I am one of those guys who succeeded from the Greatest Vitamin in the World business. But even if i didn't, I would still thank you for giving me the opportunity in the first place, the opportunity to dream, and for giving me the hope that I can achieve in life as you did. You were a role model for me, and always will be.
Sincerely,
A Don Lapre believer

I just wanted to add this to my previous comment.
Gosh, I would've testified on your behalf, Don, and I really believe it would've made a difference in the outcome of the legal battle. But I understand that you probably felt most of the world was against you, and that you just weren't in the mood to prolong the battle any longer. Anyways, it's fine cuz I know youre in peace now.
There's just too much that i want to say. But in short, let me say that you have definitely made a positive difference in my life.
Thanks again.

Comments : First of all I'm writing this with a broken heart. I would like to send out my condolences to Don's wife, kids and all his family. I just found this page today thinking about Don when I got on my FB because I had my own memorial page for him. I was a young married 20 year old guy when he gave me a chance to work for him. He was the most caring, giving and fun guy to work for. I have stated to many that he was the best boss to work for other than myself (lol) cause now Im my own boss and I hope that I can at least be a lil like him. He cared for his employees. I worked for him in three different locations. My wife can tell you he made an impact on our lives. We've been married almost 18 years now and when we heard it just made us cry, for some reason my wife more, maybe cause she knows what impact he had on me. We love you Don, Rest In Peace, G D Bless you and the family.P.S Ill never forget his backward hats and for sure never forget he had this yellow one and I would say to myself , this CEO is crazy ....

Comments : I like many people searched Don out on the web as he had embedded his name in to my head 20 years ago in the late hours. I had a little different connection with Don as we actually had infomercials running at the same time or back to back on the same station. He was incredibly charismatic and motivating and how awesome a legacy to have motivated and inspired so many people, many that had never purchased but were simply mesmerised by his personality and message.
Don was a smart guy and I am sure, whether anyone agrees or not, he did what he did for love and reasoned in his mind it was best for his family.
The Japanese have a saying that basically goes: "The nail that sticks up gets hammered down" This would seem to apply. Happy trails Don.

Comments : Not sure why I looked up Don on google today, really strange. Perhaphs I needed to laugh or was just curious about what came of the guy who was always on infomercials when I could not sleep? No matter the reason, I was very surprised and saddened to hear of how his last few months were spent. It's weird, the allegations, the time and effort spent by authorities to come down on a company that was alleged to be like hundreds of others that have been in business forever(MMS). I really hate Don felt the so much pressure that he felt it necessary to end his life. But when you see of how much enjoyed and loved his family, that he would rather be dead than apart for an undetermined amount of time. I hate it for his family. I hate he obviously suffered from deep despair during his last days here on earth and in the emptiness of a jail. I'm sorry Don and Don's family that he was in such pain and for your pain. Never thought i'd be writing on a Don Lapre memorial page; in his death, he has still managed to help someone - I can see and feel the pain that this has brought his family and loved ones. It may help others considering such tragic gesture to change their mind because of the pain it leaves for others. God Bless you Lapre family and always know, God hears your prayers and understands your pain. Talk to him for strength.

Today, I own 4 successful companies and I keep dreaming. To this day, I joke with my colleges and workers in my one bedroom apartment I made millions. I must say Don's commercials alone inspired me to dream and believe. I owe a lot of my success to Don. He brought smiles to my face and many others that surround me. We as people chose to succeed or to fail. Don had the tools for people to make money. Don's legacy will go on and others will still be inspired by Don's Passion to help people.

Comments : I have never heard of Don. I have never seen his infomercials. I did not know that he existed until I read the newspaper article about his death. When I read that article I smelled nothing but corruption. Something is not right. Who cares what he sold, he was a living being... corporations and businesses rape thousands of people every millisecond. I don't believe for a second that not just the details surrounding his death were shady, but also the harassment and raid that led up to his being arrested were shady.

Comments : I just want to send my condolences to Don's family for their loss. I enjoyed watching him, and admired his positive spirit. I think that he has been largely misunderstood. People need to realize that Don was merely putting in to play the American dream we're all supposed to believe in, and showing others how it was possible they could do that too. I never met him, but as I said was impressed by his positive nature and his belief that anyone could, if they applied themselves change their lives and others for the better. I know he loved his wife and his family very much. This is sad because I think the same society that supposedly stresses the idea that we should all "go for it" also put Don into this position where he felt things were no longer possible. To his wife and children I have this to say, "Always remember the good times you shared with your father and the love he gave to you". God bless you, and know that my prayers are with you. Sincerely, Gary from Lawrence, Kansas.

Comments : I want to extend my condolences to the Lapre family in this tragic situation. My heart goes out to the family.
I have to vent my frustrations over the handling of this case. Although I have never purchased any of Mr. Lapre's programs I am familiar with his products and infomercials. I work in the legal field and read over the indictment and was shocked. Firstly I see rapists, armed robbery suspects, fraud etc. on the state level routinely bonding out, even when they are somewhat of a risk. In this situation you have a person with ties to the community for years, a family man with no criminal history and no bond??
This is heart breaking especially when you consider the depression that was part of this.
Secondly when you look at the indictment it essentially is complaints about people who purchased a product and maybe were sold additional services that did not make any money out of the deal. I have to say I do not agree with many of the sales techniques (after purchases) but I do not see them as even being close to illegal. Think about this, how many friends do you have that signed up for Amway, Mary Kay, Avon or the hundreds of other MLMs out there? I know at least 10 friends that got involved with Amway. All of them were coerced into buying products (that would never sell), books, pamphlets, seminars and then are told to pawn off the products to agreeing family members. One friend, who was unemployed and thought Amway would pull her out, purchased 11,000 dollars worth of products, seminars, equipment over a years time resulting in loss of marriage and bankruptcy. The point is that these products are not guarantees. You are not going to pay 19.99 for a product and it will make you rich. These things take hard work and most will fail, but you do have the chance. People buy exercise equipment from infomercials, aerobic workout tapes, supplements (love the colon cleaners), products that promise to take away your pain, make you younger, and just about everything else and guess what? None of them usually work and people pay millions for them. The point is that if Mr. Lapre is going to jail for selling this opportunity to willing customers then why aren't all these others getting charged? It seems like Mr. Lapre was singled out for whatever reason and made an example of. From what I can see Mr. Lapre was a family man, employed hundreds of happy employees, and got a raw deal in this matter. It just should not have happened! What bothers me is that this could seemingly happen to anyone.
Rest In Peace Don

Comments : I only just heard of Mr. LaPre's passing tonight. I didn't know anything about this trash that they are talking about now. He always appeared to me, to be honest, and just wanted to help everyone make a better life for themselves. I am so sorry for him, and his family, that they had to endure the garbage that is being said about him now, when there are so many REAL crooks out there. I don't think he was anything but sincere. Ok, so maybe everyone who bought his product didn't make a fortune, but maybe they were just too lazy to put in the work that it took. I know that I would always feel more motivated to do things, simply because I saw him on tv, and he made me want to get up and do something! May you rest in peace Don, and may the Lord comfort your family and friends. So long pal, and because of you, I'll never stop dreaming!

Comments : My memories of Don included his sister Debbie, as we all attended the same school at one time here in Phoenix. Even then, as kids, Don was the entrepreneur. He and his sister were doing business even in the 5th grade. Then, as an adult, Don was my co-worker. He was the one who wanted to help people make more money, always coming up with ideas and ways to multiply one's income. He was always thinking, moving, working, doing. As life went on, I was most surprised when I first saw Don on TV in an infomercial. But, knowing what he was like from youth, it didn't really surprise me. I was happy to see someone I knew become successful. Over time I actually applied for a position at one of Don's companies, and was pleasantly surprised to see other former co-workers working for Don. When I saw them, I knew it must be a good place to work. Now, to hear of his death, without reason, without sense, without any regard for fair treatment, he is gone. I've never understood how these things could happen. I know he went through trials and errors just like we all do. The difference was he was mocked in the media when an event took place in his life. The media wouldn't care if you or I had these same events in our life, but Don was well-known so he was easy fodder. He was no different than us, but perhaps so inspiring and enthusiastic we could have felt small next to him. Not knowing his wife and children, I can only guess that Don felt so broken by legal means that he felt he had no other option. He was broken by being made out to be so much less than what he truly was. Others who have committed harsh crimes against people have had far more favorable treatment, as we have all seen. But regardless of any charges, accusations, other finger-pointing or blaming, Don was a loving man who loved his entire family, and he was only guilty of trying his level best for all of them and not for himself. Rest in Peace, Don.

I am so sorry to his family and friends because the death of Don Lapre was a loss not only to those closest to him, but to humanity as a whole.
Our 'justice' system terrorized him into the ultimate submission. Once again tyranny has ruled the day.
For the sake of his family, I hope that enough people see the reality of this tragedy to demand change in the 'justice' system.

Comments : I, like many, have kind things to say about Don's good looks, the enthusiasm in his good voice, and his message that advertising works, among many other things. I would also like to point out, that Don was never convicted by 12 jurors, of anything, so remains not guilty. Being denied bond and locked away, indefinately, essentially beginning to serve a sentence for a crime not yet proven, has got to be depressing to the point of panic. Knowing that the mighty US government is intending to keep him caged for decades, turning many of its resourses against him for that purpose, makes his choosing death instead, understandable. He should have been allowed to be free on bail, or house arrest. To those who may still feel wronged or defrauded, Don gave himself the death penalty, who would ask for anything more. Don did good with his time here on earth. Died well known and well loved.

Comments : I just heard of Don's passing and like so many others am so saddened by the news. I never Don personally but felt like I knew him on some level through is infectious commercials and his abounding enthusiasm. Many years ago I ordered Don's package. Others have said it but it merits repeating, Don was ahead of his time. One only needs to Google business opportunities and they will see many of the business models out there today have much of the core information Don was talking about years ago!
Big symbols always make big targets. I've seen more venom shot in Don's direction in online forums than just about anyone else I can think of. I can't speak intelligently on what happened with certain products or dealings in Don's company but Don never struck me as a mere huckster. Don's passion for living the American dream wasn't mere informercial acting, it was clearly part of his mind and his heart. People who signed up for any of Don's programs were not fools or suckers. Far from it. They were dreamers, optimists, and risk takers who dared to do what so few people ever even think about; living life on their own terms. I challenge anyone to watch one of Don's old infomercials and not be fired up and ready to take on the world! If Don was just offering a business opportunity it wouldn't cause that kind of reaction. Don was infusing the audience with a jolt of endless possibilities.
My family is praying for Don's family today. Our hearts ache thinking about the pain they must be feeling. To all the dreamers, risk takers, boundary breakers, and fired up people out there, I hope we all continue the legacy that Don left for us by refusing to be status quo and going after our dreams, whatever they may be.
RIP Don Lapre.

I related to Don because he talked of the same inspirations and dreams I had. We were close in age and lived in Az. and I always hoped one day I could meet him and talk about biz ideas, beaches, cars, real estate etc. Then one day I was on a flight from PHX 2 LAX and there he was...Don Lapre sitting on the plane in my vicinity. I kinda froze...the kinda of frozen feeling like when you see a movie star or fampus athelete in real life. I wanted to talk to him, but ofcourse he had tons of papers on his tray and was going over biz stuff with a guy who worked with him. I took a look around and noticed what the other people were doing. Some were sleeping, others just starring off into space but Don......ole Don was bizy making use of every precious second doing his work. I witnessed right there his tireless business attitude and drive and it was kind of uplifting to watch the King just sit there and do his thing. It made me want to be better at what I do and keep dreaming and never stop persuing. Im not one to walk up to someone and interupt so I decided to write a note and pass it to him to spare me any embarrassment that may me a result of my interruption. I just told him I always wanted to meet him and I admired his enthusiasm and thx for motivating me when there was no one else around to help. He passed a note back and said he wanted my name and address and he would send me the making money package for free. Oh Wow, I thought, how nice so I thanked hm and gave him my info. and sure enough within a few days there was the money making package on my doorstep. Although I never really used the package exactly the way it was intended to be used, I did get some great ideas from it that helped me with some other things down the road. I was a true believer in the material but I just never found the right product to sell. The internet changed things and I always wanted to talk to Don in the internet age to see what his internet ideas were. How great would that have been to sit down with him and have a beer and see him moving fwd and seeing his excitement about the internet and all the possibilities? I guess I was always hoping he would personally take me under his wing and teach me all the secrets so we could both make millions from our ideas. ell, I believe Don's last words to everyone were to never stop dreaming and i never will. I know Don lived his dreams. He had his failures but he always rebounded. He always had a new idea. Don has got to have more stories than anyone. I love people and stories about people who come from no where and build an empire. His story is fascinating to me. I wish I knew more about his history. I just get the impression he was a regular guy who dreamed big and didn't want to wait to be rich. I'll always remember him saying how he would go to a wealthy neighborhood painting homes and he would ask the rich people what they did and how they made their money. I always wondered about that kinda stuff too. I am sad Ill never get to have that beer with Don. I would have really liked to be his friend. Everyone that knows him says he was a wonderful caring man and a great family man as well. I feel for his family and i hope his kids grow up to be everything he always dreamed they would be. Don is missed by many and I'm so glad to see that he did inspire thousands of people andthat he did make a positive difference in other peoples lives. RIP Don Lapre. You are missed!

Comments : Don Lapre, A good person though business is sometimes the threat Don found ways to keep head above water, Never did anything illegal, nor would he hurt you, he used his experiences form legitimate work and an imagination that mad life on mars seem real. He might get pissed seeing someone sitting at his desk when he return from a consultation but his great character made up the difference. He tried he put together ideas that some could not even think of. He was scammed as the 900 hundred numbers would not work with him on ways to fluctuate the different possibilities and ideas. His projects cost him fortunes and he made them available for fractions of the cost he would not cut any one short. Except Himself!

Comments : To Don`s wife and children.
When I first heard of Don`s passing I was extremely saddened and I want you to know that I am very very sorry for your loss! I immediately had a feeling inside of me that is very hard to explain! I am not sure why I am getting this feeling about someone that I have never met. I do not know Don but the feeling that I have is that Don loved his wife and children so very very much! More than I can explain! The feeling I am getting is overwhelming! I have watched Don`s infomercials since the 90`s and know who he is but that is all, I have no connection with him. As I am writing this message I still have this feeling and I believe I was drawn to this site in order to write what I am writing so Don`s wife and children can read this. It is very rare for me to write comments on the internet but I feel what I am writing has to be written in order for Don`s wife and children to read. He loved his wife and kids with all of his heart! I can feel it and I feel that I need to share that. To Don`s wife and kids you are in my thoughts and prayers and I wish the best for all of you!
God Bless All Of You Forever!

Comments : I am so sad to hear of Don's untimely passing. I had never met him~I only saw him through his T.V. Commercials. But what I would like to say is that he inspired me! He gave me hope~he made me feel like something good could happen. As poor as I was, I never could purchase what he was offering~but what he had he gave to me freely .The hope of better days and that I could do it ~were enough for me and I feel blessed to know the name Don Lapre. Maybe I haven't yet excelled at anything really prosperous~but he helped me get through one day~then two days~then three. Maybe that was his ultimate purpose on this earth~just to motivate us~to get us excited about another day and the possibilities it held for all of us. I send my deepest sympathy to all his family and friends and want them to know that Don Lapre helped me believe in myself~and that there are opportunities out there~just waiting for us. Thankyou Don. I will always remember you as the man who made me feel like not giving up. Love and blessings.

Comments : I worked for Don for 8 years. His positive attitude and excitement was infectious every day. I remember him always saying that if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything. In fact, I remember him one time following me outside when I was taking a smoke break, lecturing on how bad it was for me (he was always giving me the “evil eye” when he saw me going outside to smoke – because he cares). Well, he’d be happy to know that I am now an ex-smoker. I have so many great memories of working for him, just little things he’d say and do around the office. He was so incredibly generous and caring, treating his employees better than any employer I’ve ever known. He will always have a special place in my heart, and when I think of him, will always remember him fondly.

To Don’s Family and Friends: Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in our thoughts and prayers.

Comments : I did not know Mr. Lapre. Never met him, never paid for any of his products/services. But I am grieved and horrified by his horrible death, and outraged at a government that would drive a kind and nice family man to suicide merely for selling vitamins. This is absolutely despicable and disgusting and unforgivable. God bless Don and have mercy on his soul and on his family and friends.

Comments : R.I.P. Don Lapre! I never purchased his products but he inspired me to become an entrepreneur.
I do not understand why they were able to indict him? He employed hundreds of people in this messed up market and economy.
Arizona is so corrupt.
Arizona DOC should be held responsible for this tragedy!
Hopefully this will bring a light on how horrible the conditions are in the Arizona DOC.
Thank you don! Our prayers are with you and your family.

Comments : I called Don's cell phone yesterday just to hear that great up-lifting voice one more time! The jail thing was bad, but I pictured Don becoming an inspiration to everyone in the jail and was looking forward to the positive outcomes he could accomplish! People are saying, he wasn't thinking of his family when he took his life. As someone who also suffers from depression.....I can say that's all he was thinking about! I think he would say to anyone depressed to please seek help.....there is hope!! God speed my old friend!

Comments : Don Lapre is and always was an inspiration to me ever since I first saw one of his informercials and ordered his packages. Regardless of mine or anyones success (good or bad) who ordered any of his programs, it was his inspiration that made people beleive in them selves and gave them hope to take action. He was a very talented man! His passion, energy, and pro out-take on life was very powerful. I admire him and thank him for being himself.. RIP <3

Comments : Don was a devoted father, husband and friend. He was one of the most generous and giving people I have ever had the pleasure of calling my friend. I am heart broken for Don and his family. For those who never knew Don all they will have is the image that was on TV and in the news. For those of us that did know him and were blessed to have him as a friend, we will be forever touched by his love and caring for others. To the (in)justice system and the people that were a party to his relentless persecution, I hope you can live with what you did. Don's final act, misguided as it may have been, I believe was an act of love and a reflection of his generous spirit. I hope and pray that S, E and T, know that he loved you more than life itself. I had the privilege of having many conversations with Don over the years and that is what he shared with me on many occasions. He always wanted the best for you and would do anything for you and your happiness. The ultimate outcome is heart breaking but I truly believe that his intentions were noble and pure. Don, I will miss you and I am forever blessed to have known you. I pray that you are finally at rest and comforted in knowing that God loves you and will continue to provide for and protect your family until you meet again. Peace. G.

Comments : I just spoke to Captain Janks and he was devastated at the passing of America's best infomercial legend Don Lapre. Captain Janks actually met Don Lapre at a promo(i think in Philly) and said what a genuine guy Don was. He talked to everyone there and was generous with his time. I just wish Don Lapre could have cleared his name against the trumped up charges. RIP Don, you have paid your debt and helped others.

Don Lapre and Howard Stern showed me that the little guy, not just the guy that went to Harvard, Stanford etc, could make it big in life. Comments : This is very bad, very, very bad..just bad...this country is really turning very anti-capitalism...thank you for putting this website up to show people what the real Don was about, this man changed my life back in the late 90's and this really feels like I lost something..I actually only lived less than a mile from him, I wish, in retrospect, I had reached out to him..this is just bad, and wrong, once again thank you for putting up this website.

Comments : It was Don that made me dream up my business in 1998, he influenced me in a major positive way and I wish so much I could have thanked him in person for that. This is so terrible what our government has done to this entrepreneur, and what the irresponsible blamers and haters have disseminated out there about Don...he was a good guy and helped a lot of people...not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur, Don never forced anyone to buy his products, it was an individual decision, and those complainers out there that bash him, even now, should learn to accept responsibility for their own decision and lack of action...once again...most people cannot be business owners, Don was merely giving people an opportunity to be free and he was a catalyst for those looking for a spark to take action on their dreams. Don helped so many people indirectly, this just isn't right what has happened...

Comments : I bought his first system of tiny classifieds,it worked so well that i passed the idea to other methods. Don can not change people who no matter what will always be losers and complain that the product was defective but in reality it was the person who was defective. They are lost sheep forever. Don was in my opinion one of the most convincing persons to come through the screen. He would have never been convicted for the crime that he was accused of.

Comments : My late husband saw the infomercial, and was all excited because Don had the same pronounciation of his last name as his was. So he bought me the Money Making Secrets kit way back in 1998. At the time, I didn't have any particular product or service to sell, but I did get educated on marketing techniques that I wasn't previously aware of. I was just thinking about what Don Lapre was still doing these days, just a couple of weeks ago, because now I DO have a product to sell. Then I read the news and find out that he had commited suicide. I never even knew about the vitamin business or his legal troubles. Had I known, I would have tried to find out his jail location to write him a letter encouraging him to hang in there. How tragic, and like a previous poster stated "A true scam artist doesnt commit suicide, they are more interested in figuring out how to get out of jail." And I agree with another poster's statement about all the corruption going on in Wall Street, and with the CEO's of major corporations, and I don't see Bernard Madoff on any suicide watch. My reading all the comments from the people who knew him, confirms the gut feeling I had, that Don was not a scam artist. It just sounds like his last venture got out of hand, and the brunt of it all, fell all on him. This is just so sad, my thoughts go out to his friends and family. And I am so sorry.

Comments : “I love you God, per Don Lapre”

God knows how much I Loved.
For my heart does know other.
I loved with all my might,
my mind, and my soul.
God knows everything I did,
I did it for those who loved me.
So in return I loved them more.
More than any father, son, or brother could.
God also knows how frustrating it could be at times
When you want to love more, than love could love.
For the tears I cried cleansed my thoughts,
so they brought me, peace and comfort.
God, you knew all my intentions were good.
From the times we talked together.
Many times you asked me to be strong,
but it’s hard when you look into your loved ones.
So you took my weakness and you lifted me on me feet
and embraced me with you love.
Once back home, I could still feel what love you shared with me,
but you know I could never keep it all for me.
So I gave it all away to those in need,
like I was once, down on my knees.
Today I have no fear, no worries, and no pain.
You have allowed me to see your face again.
I ran so fast into your arms and felt that warmth.
That once I felt but had been long.
From here I will guide my brothers and sisters as I know best.
And interceded for them, and one day be here with me.
And together we will all sing and dance again.
Like I did, with my three precious girls,
The ones I left behind but will always adore.

Song written just for Don.
God, when it’s late in the hour
Don’t let my mother cry
My brothers drink wine
I’ll be all right
Right by your side
When you call my name
I’ll run to you again
Just like I did
In the Garden of Eden
Before my fathers sinned
And together we lived
Don’t let my baby girls
Think they’re alone
It was time for me to come home
Don’t let my other half
Think she is just that
For you made us only “one”
God, when it’s late in the hour
Bring them to me
And together we’ll worship you
Like one big happy family.

Written today, 4th day of October, 2011. Especially for my God Parent, Don Lapre. Not from the bottom of my heart but with all my heart. For I have angered God praying for him, when God told me, my mercy is all he needs. But he still allowed me to continue to pray for Don, to help his way back home, a fast one.
I love you Don.

Comments : you know the list is too long to mention everything he did that was kind hearted and well beyond just being a boss. it is easy for people to jump ship when it gets rough- when things were tough, he was streight with his employees we stayed!!! if he was a terriable person and all the mean things were true- I dont think almost everyone (150-200 employees) would of stayed we had a chance to leave and we were there still. he did have heart-maybe people should think that there is more than one person that runs a multi-million dollar company, maybe the people that he put in charge oversee things were the ones that dropped the ball- maybe one of his faults was giving others too many chances. if he hadnt been on tv and it was just a company people wouldnt be sooo quick to be negitive.he did good for alot of people. i am thankfull to of been a part of the incrediable dreams he helped make come true. i have never had a boss like him and will never 4get him. he gave new meaning to positive and inspiring. peace be with you don and your family.

Comments : I watch him on TV for many months in the early 90's and did not have the money to buy his making money package. I was young and went around telling family and a few friends I had at the time about this guy "Don Lapre". People thought I was being funny or joking but I wasn't. I really believed in him. I never bought the package but I more or less started out doing what he said in the commercials. Maybe I'm smarter than the people that bought the package and could not make money but he inspired me so much. I started with $50 and within one year I owned $50,000 in inventory and did $200,000 in sales all out of my parents six bedroom home. (Please don't take anything I'm saying as mocking him. This is just me and how I remember good and fun times with a little humor.)
Within a few years of selling stuff and evolving I owned about $300,000 worth of cars, inventory, bikes, buildings, ect. I'm not a bullshitter either. I made about three times more money than I would have with my college education. I was selling as going through college. I dropped out of college over a public speaking class because I was making enough money that I saw no point in finishing although I sometimes wish I did.
So although I never bought the package I do consider myself a Don Lapre success story because I had zero interest in business and to this day never took a business class yet still make money selling things by writing tiny ads with a punch to them. If Don was never on TV I know I would not be in business.
His commercials always made me smile and get excited and many of us know them word-for-word.
P.S. To this day I never work more than 3 hours per day doing "work". Thanks Don!!!

Comments : I suspect he was deeply brokenhearted because he gave his all to inspire others, only to be accused of taking advantage of others. It must have been the most painful thing that could have happened to him, and he just couldn't live with the hurt. I send prayers to the family.
One more thought. A real scam artist would not have committed suicide. A real scam artist would only have been interested in how to get out of jail. He was crushed because he cared about people and he knew in his heart his intentions were good. It was emotionally devastating to find himself in a cell.

Comments : I knew Don, and I saw in my short time with him that at his core was a bright shining light of Love. He was a positive force in so many lives, including mine. He was kind, generous, creative, and sensitive. He felt the pain of others as if it were his own, and did what he could to help anyone, even perfect strangers. He would have done so much good in this world, and it's a darker place without him here. My love goes to his wife and children. Please know that many saw Don for who he truly was. He was one of us.

Comments : Personally I did not know Don. I feel from the years of seeing him on TV that he was a guy who tried his best to make something of himself to provide for his family. People who get into multi level marketing should know the risks. Don had a product and he sold it and encouraged others to give it a try...to sell and make money. It is no different than Mary Kay or Avon sales. Arizona was wrong for hunting him down, jailing him and prosecuting him. There are thousands of people doing the same exact thing that Don did through MLM that will never be put through something like he had to go through.
My prayers go out to his lovely family.

Comments : I REMEMBER WHEN I STARTED WORKING FOR DON OVER ON THE CAMELBACK OFFICE- I REMEMBER TESTING THE FIRST AUDIO TAPE.LOL THE GROWTH OF THE COMPANY, KNOCKING DOWN WALL STAGES,IF YOU WERE THERE YOU REMEMBER TOO. I WAS WITH THE COMPANY FOR OVER 8 YRS. HE DID SOME GREAT THINGS AND HE HAD SOME GREAT EMPLOYEES MANY OF WHICH WENT ON TO DO THEIR OWN THING. IN EVERY COMPANY THERE ARE BAD APPLES SOME MORE THAN OTHERS.HE DID HAVE THE Q.A. DEPT. FULL TIME CHECKING SALES MAKING SURE IT WAS GOOD SALE. I REMEMBER SELLING THE RIGHTS TO AIR HIS SHOW. I DONT AGREE WITH EVERYTHING , BUT WHO DOES. I CAN SAY THAT I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT HE DIED AND OF HOW.I JUST DONT SEE HIM DOIN THAT. BUT I AM SURE THERE WAS A LOT OF PRESURE ON HIM IN MANY WAYS. I AM GREATFULL THAT I WAS A PART OF THAT DREAM HE MADE TRUE. HE WENT FROM NOTHING TO EVERYTHING. I SAY PRAYERS FOR HIS FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS. AND EVEN HIM HOPING THAT HE MAY FIND PEACE NOW. HE TOUCHED LOT OF LIVES AND UNLESS YOU WERE THERE TO SEE IT YOU MAY NOT BELIEVE IT. ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT went on to run their own business were able to because they basically just used what they learned from him in one way or another. i am thankfull i was able to work for don a long time- if you think about it he had a pretty long list of employees that were with him for a great number of years, and when they did leave well most went on to open their own business.i am sure he will be missed.

Comments : RIP Don! I purchased the "little tiny ads" package when I was about 19 or 20. It was my first exposure to mass marketing. I found it to be brilliant and eye opening. The thought of running little ads all over the country and having people send money was truly "amazing" and "incredible". My investment of $19.99 was one of the best investments I ever made! Since then, I have used the basic formula to sell millions in products. Thanks Don Lapre! You will forever live on in my head and I will aways think of you in a positive light.

Comments : I will miss Don! I never bought any of his products but I loved his infomercials! He was uplifting, enthusiastic, and charming.
I am a successful businessman on my own and I know Don Lapre played a part in that.
Rest in peace, Don! This country lost an asset.

Comments : I am so sad to hear about Don Lapre. I didn't even know he was having legal troubles. I used to watch Don's infomercials years ago. They were like a free visit to a shrink or a life coach. They always left me inspired. I even sent for his classified ads materials, not that I was going to do it, but as a way to pay him back for all the inspiration he had given me which DID help me in my life. Years later, I finally did lift myself up as Don always preached and got into real estate appraisal which ended up making me a multi-millionaire. Who would have thought? To the haters and the failures who blamed Don for their failure, let me say this. There is more than one way to make it in life. Even some of the fringe things like some of Don's marketing ideas WILL work if you work at them. Heck, I was buying No Money Down real estate before the guys went on TV to promote it. I already knew that it worked. Anyway, I'm so sorry for his family, especially his great kids who I just saw on his website. Rest In Peace, Don. And Thanks for the Inspiration.

Comments : Much has been, and will continue to be, said about Don the businessman. I knew Don as a husband, father and acquaintance. Whatever else Don may have been, he was a MAN who took care of his family and children. I have been long gone from the picture, Renee having left a long time ago, but my memories of Don will be good ones.
Sally, my thoughts and prayers are for you and the girls.

Comments : Hello,
I just wanted to let you know that your website was really moving, and that I just visited it and thought very highly of it.
I never ordered any of Don's products, but I always admired him.  I thought he was a really cool guy and if nothing was on TV in the middle of the night I would watch his infomercials because I genuinely liked the guy.  I found his enthusiasm a little humorous, but I always thought he was a good guy.
I wasn't even aware of his current legal problems.  Today I found out that he is dead though, from an apparent suicide.  Thinking of Don alone in his cell feeling so devastated and depressed makes me want to cry.  I have deep feelings for this tragedy.
Reading Don's final message on his website that you used in the video was ominous and touching.  I think it really speaks volumes about the kind of person he was.  In his darkest hour he encouraged people to enjoy life and never stop dreaming.  I just looked at his webpage in the other open tab after typing that last line and it made me cry.
I'm guessing you are a friend of Don's.  It was therapeutic for me to write this to you, so I thank you for reading this.  I am very sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Mike

Comments : Very sad. I remember way back watching his infomercials and actually bought the newspaper ads info books. Although I didn't get any response from those, (also bought the Dave DelDotto real estate books) I feel that these really set the foundation for my success. To actually go out there and try. I remember he was a great enthusiastic speaker and thinking it would be great to be like that !.. He did positively affect a lot of peoples lives! This is so sad. My heart and prayers go out to his beautiful family. Actually feels like I lost a part of me also. I know ...weird, but it does.. God Bless.

Comments : First got turned on to Don with the Tiny Classified Ads package. I thank him for that info every day, nut I'm probably one of the very, very few that actually put the work in that was required. Nearly all of what most call "get rich quick" schemes semm too good to be true but most all will work to some extent if you put in the effort required. Thanks, Don, no matter what may be said or what may be true about what they say, you helped some and there's some forgiveness and thanks for that.

Comments : Dear Don,
I woke up today and learned some very horrific news, that you have passed away. I am truly and deeply sorry that you felt that this was the only way out. Because of all of the negative alligations and false imprisonment. When in all reality you have changed the lives of many many people in the U.S. And maybe around the world. Although I perchased one of your dvds I was unable to get out of debt and continue to struggle. I have a good job but only make a little. Butt I do play the lotto in hopes of maybe one day my life changes lol. I wish I could of told you that anything is possible and never give up, no matter what happens. Because one day everything will be ok. That's what I always try and tell myself. That one day....

Comments : I'm sorry for your loss... Don seemed like a really genuine guy. Unfortunate.. we can spend the time and money to attack Don Lapre, but let Wall Street criminals run free to destroy and defraud millions of people out of their life savings? Really? What a country (this used to be).

Comments : He was someone's son. He was someone's husband. He was someone's father. He was someone's friend.

Whatever else bitter people may want to say about the man, it cannot undo those facts. He was loved by someone. Whatever he may have done wrong in his life, he did not deserve to die for it or to suffer the deep depression that he must have been enduring for the past months.

Rest in peace, and may your family find solace of their own.

The fact is, the government could have stopped any wrong doing but seemed to prefer to ruin someone's life. To what point. He was selling a product; Wall Street is much worse, and where are those indictments? Don was an easy target.

Truly very sorry - peace for his friends and family

Comments : I only heard and saw Don Lapre this morning, after learning of his passing. But there is a bigger picture here, and the picture is that of the U.S. government and its 'show trials'. 'Show trials' were what Stalin did in a country that murdered millions of innocent people. The old videos of young Mr. Lapre show me a guy who could have been a movie star. So much charm. So likeable. The world of multi-level marketing created thousands of entrepeneurs, and Mr. Lapre sounds like he was legitimate, and not a scam artist at all. He must have been very dedicated, and very loving. This morning also in the news, guess what - a woman in Wisconsin was threatened by the Feds for her indoor plant, that she ordered online. It was a little lemon tree, and she was afraid a SWAT team would come to her house if she didn't turn it in. The lemon tree was three years old and perfectly healthy, and the USDA had problems with it. All kinds of beneficial vitamins, natural health product makers, health food stores, you name it, are shaking in their boots, because the government doesn't want us healthy. It wants us dead. I am sorry that people who understand what is happening in this country didn't get to Mr. Lapre in time to let him know he was not alone in this fight. He must have been a tremendous person. Reading these comments has driven me to tears. I didn't know the man. But I know the kind of man he must have been. I pray his family will find the strength to go on from here, and join those of us who know what the battle is which we are really fighting.

Comments : He did not defraud anyone! Everything was clear and it always involved risk, just like everything in this life. He clearly explained what you needed to do and that there was some risk involved. He was as honest as a TV infomercial guy could ever be. In my opinion our government should redirect their attention towards trillions stolen by bankers.

Comments : Hey Don, I wish you the best. I can say this much. You have been a great inspiration for me. I can remember the good old days at Tropical Beaches, and making the Infomercials Rock, and all of the Great Times, and Great Money, that we all made. I can say this much, Denise is Correct with her comment below.... Don did everything by the book. Anyone that says he did not, is a fraud themselves. Don once found out that a guy misrepresented the company and stood him up on stage before everyone and played the tapes. (Yes, he made sure everything was recorded, had paid people to do nothing but listen to and evaluate the tapes, and make sure the quality was great), no tape, no sale, no misstatements or lies about the products or no sale.
The guy he stood up, he asked everyone what we should do. The whole room, said "Fire him" He left it up to the house, saying that he would leave it up to the majority. Everyone knew that this was an example of what we did not want.
The company was Very up beat, and exciting. You needed to be a happy and upbeat person, no negativity or you must leave.
Always be honest, or you could jeopardize everyone's way of living.
He was always a straight shooter. Then all of the other "Biz Ops" I worked with, do not have this way of thinking.

Don, I worked with some of the "Best" in the industry, while working with you. You had been the one on top, very motivated, and you were always a positive thinker. I appreciate the good words you had said to me. I thank you for your input on my idea's, and I do appreciate yours.
I wish you the best of luck, and will keep you in my prayers.

Comments : Don Lapre is a very rare, extremely precious person. He has the innate ability to help individuals make the transition from employee to employer better than anyone I've ever known. Today there are many seeking jobs. Don would say, "Don't seek a job! Create a job for yourself and then hire others!" Don is THE poster child for a free enterprise system. The road of an entrepreneur is a difficult one for sure. Most aren't up to it! The long hours and the risk of failure is just too daunting. I know Don laid awake many nights seeking inspiration on how to help others achieve. He's always trying to figure out how to streamline entrepreneurship and make it easier. He's always trying to find the perfect vehicle to help others succeed.

Comments : There are many people out there who would rather blame someone else for their own failure rather then take a good look in the mirror and see where the blame really lies. All of Don's siblings have their own successful business. So very sad that a lot of society cannot just be happy for another one's success. Don is where he is right now NOT because he did something wrong, but because he is very successful at what he does. So please keep praying for Don and hope something good comes out of this.

Comments : I remember buying my package from Don Lapre, that has been some years ago. (I think about 12-16 yrs ago)
It is still part of my private collection and not for sale. After going thru it years later, I can't help feel he was far ahead of his time. Many of his ideas are still being used today. I can say, Making money for yourself requires a certain drive not found in everyone, like being self employed, requires constant drive and determination. So it is obvious that no plan requiring self drive will work for all cause most lack the drive and determination. I don't know what the courts think their doing, I don't believe Don did anything wrong. Why are they not going after all the other info commercial guys, they are always selling something they guarantee to work but never does. The real crooks are politicians, let them go pick them up, starting at the white house. If you ever want to be a legal crook, become a politician. Anyway, I would like to thank Don Lapre for my package I purchased many years ago and I often wondered what happened to him. I hope things get better for you Don.

In fact, I don't think I have ever met such a giving person. I was especially impressed when Don took several orphaned kids to the mall and let them purchase whatever they wanted. It's easy to see that it makes Don so happy when he sees other people happy. It really breaks my heart to think of what he might be going through at this time. Comments : I'm proud to say that I worked for Don Lapre for over 10 years, not only did I work for him but I had a chance to get to know him personally. Don is one of a kind, as a person, he is full of life, always positive and happy, as a boss he always wanted to make sure his employees were happy, he spoiled us rotten with catered lunches, stay late contest, drawings to win prizes like cars, boats, tv's, etc...anything to keep us happy and motivated. I think everyone loved their job,I can't even describe what we felt when we walked in the doors to work, it was so uplifting, I couldn't wait to go to work evryday, working for any of Don's companies was always an amazing atmosphere. Don was a hard worker himself, he was always in the office working on new ideas for people to make money, I can remember so many different ideas he came up with and how excited he was to share it with some of us, being an entrapenuer is his drive in life, many of days Don was at work when we got there and still there when we were leaving. Don was very particular when it came to the way he ran his company, as empoyees, we were not aloud to guarantee anyone to make money, Don had the tools and it was up to that person to put them to work, unfortunately I came across many of clients that didn't even open the package we sent them or didn't have a product or service to sell, that's not Don's fault. Don Lapre is a very honest man that wants everyone to succeed in life. Don Lapre and his family should not have to go through all of this. In my eyes Don is the infomercial king who changed alot of people's lives for the better, not only his clients but his employees as well. I accomplished things in life that I wouldn't have been able to do if it weren't for Don Lapre, he is and always will be a role model to me and the best mentor to ever know. I thank you Don for being the great, unselfish man that you are, you have touched alot of lives and I will forever be grateful for you. May God bless you and your family.

Comments : I worked for Don and 'The Greatest Vitamin in the World' and the allegations of wrong-doing on his part are infuriating. I worked very hard along with other employees to keep the people who purchased business opportunities working on the up and up. The so-called average Joe can be quite sneaky and scheming! I know there were many customers who purchased and had great success with the program and others who never bothered to even open their packages but there were others who took advantage of Don's easy program and found ways to cheat to get payments. They abused the postal service, they committed fraud, lied, cheated and misrepresented the vitamin and the program to make money from the program. I also worked on paying customers their checks who were successful with their businesses. We paid out MILLIONS to customers and I know there are businesses who never paid out a single penny to their customers but WE DID. Every week, like clock work! The program worked if you just did a little work yourself. Don only ever wanted people to live the dream and be able to provide for their families.
A very personal note about how wonderful a product 'The Greatest Vitamin in the World' really was even though the news tells everyone that they were worthless... My son was having some serious health problems at age 4 through age 6. Two times we had to go through a series of tests to make sure he did not have cancer (leukemia, lymphoma). His lymph nodes were seriously impacted, his red blood cells were almost non-existent, and he wasn't sleeping. His skin was bruising and his iron levels would plummet regardless of our efforts. His school work was suffering and the doctors had no answers but knew that his lack of red blood cells was going to be a serious issue. I had been taking the vitamin for about a year and loved it and decided to put my son on the vitamin. In three months his lymph nodes were clean, he was sleeping at night, his skin stopped bruising and he could learn again. Blood tests and examinations showed us that he was back to normal and the only change was 'The Greatest Vitamin in the World'. I would not have known about the vitamin if not for Don so I always felt he helped save my son's life.
My  life changed in many wonderful ways because of my association with this sweet, caring man. My prayers are that he will be cleared of any of these ridiculous charges and that he can return to the family that he so dearly loves. I know they must be devastated. I know we are.

Comments : I consider it a blessing that I know Don personally. working the 5+ years with him was a very rewarding experience and Learned how to give more when you don't have it yourself. He was even considering at onetime to donate a body organ to some one that needs one.. that in it's self shows how much compassion he has for mankind. He has helped many people here in the USA and other countries bringing them help for water, medical supplies and education. let alone he has helped people become financially successful when they put forth the effort. I believe the world would be a better place if more of us gave the way Don Lapre has..

Comments : I do not even know how to express the many kindnesses that I saw Don Lapre bestow on other people during the 12 years that I worked for him.  I have no problem stating my real full name because I am proud of my association with Don. I have said before that I remember when we were first building the business "The Greatest Vitamin in the World", his excitement when he would come up with a new idea that he was certain would benefit our customers (and it would have if they had taken just the slightest responsibilty for their own business).  He had many goals with this company.  One was his great desire for the success of our customers.  He wanted them to live the dreams that they hoped for in providing for their families, and provided them with all the support that was humanly possible, as well as the greatest vitamin in the world. Another of his desires was the happiness and fulfillment of his employees.
He was far and above the best employer that I ever had.  And certainly he wanted to provide for his own family that he loves more than life. I keep reading of the complaints against Don and I would like to relate a conversation that I had with one of our customers.  He called our company to complain that the was not making any money, and made threats of reporting Don Lapre to various organizations.  I took the time to really talk to this man, who said he had never even received any information or help.  I checked the tracking on the package that was mailed to him and found that he had signed for it when it arrived.  We continued to talk until he finally looked under a stack of paperwork on his desk and found his package that he had forgotten he received and had never opened. I could go on with many similar stories but I am hoping that this one made my point.  This customer (actually affiliate because he had purchased a business opportunity) was making threats of reporting Don to the Better Business Bureau and many other organizations, and he had never even opened the box.

Don Lapre is a man of the highest moral character. I grew to know him well.  He mentioned one time that he considered us family, but then Don considered all his employee's family.  For that matter, he considered everyone his family, and never hesitated to be there for someone in need.

I have personally found probably over one hundred websites on the internet that have copied Don's business strategies. Some of their affiliates have been extremely successful and those who have not committed themselves to promoting their own businesses have not.  Just as with Don's company, the level of the affiliates commitment was reflected in their business.  I do wonder about one thing, are we going to see all of the owners of these businesses behind bars?  I have personally joined probably 20 of them and confess that I never made a dime.  I also confess that I did nothing whatsoever to promote my own business.  Is this their shortcoming or mine?  It was mine!

I am praying that there is some justice in this world and Don Lapre will be exonerated of any wrong doing, as it should be. I also pray for his family who must be suffering horribly.
Don, a personal message to you.  We went through many ups and downs over the 12 years that I worked for you, and I know that at times you felt depressed and lost (remember when we were working out of your house?).  However, ultimately you pulled yourself up by your boot straps and fought back.  We are with you and will do anything we can to help.  You are one of the strongest men that I have ever known and you are not alone.  I believe that thoughts have the power to manifest.  You are in all our thoughts.

Comments : There is something very disturbing to me about this whole tragic ordeal. According to several internet news articles recently circulated, he did $52 million in sales over a period of 4 years (2003-2007) and personally was paid over $2.2 million during that time? It would seem to me that, unless the overhead is like 96%, that he wasn't really making much in comparison.
I would think that if his mindset was to scam people that he would have drawn more money from the pile that came in rather than a half a million (or so) a year that some news articles say he was paid. Does that seem at all like a fraudulent minded person's process?

I remember when I was younger (early 90's), watching his infomercials on TV and I actually purchased his money making package. I didn't invest a lot in the up-selling, just the standard package. Up-selling is not a crime folks, it's just part of marketing - I just didn't have the Xtra money for that at the time. I do remember it being a good experience and the information seemed to be there for someone to run with it and make money if they wanted. I was young however, and already in another business that took precedence over this one. It didn't work out because I never put forth the effort, but I saw clearly that it had potential from reading the material I was sent. It just made sense. I cannot however, attest to any of the issues he is having from the Vitamin venture of recent. I admittedly didn't even know about the Vitamin product he was selling till a few days ago when I heard of his legal issues.

I personally think that people are quick to persecute others especially if they are in the media's spotlight. Most people, by nature, love dirty laundry and stealthily jump aboard the hate train without knowing anything other than the picture that is being painted by the media and government (whom I believe are one in the same).

Considering some of the complaints though on BBB, etc., I do admit that I am concerned for the people that were supposedly up-sold thousands of dollars worth of advertising for the Vitamins that claim they didn't get what they paid for nor did they receive a timely refund.

BUT.........

This is where I would first question Don's large scale business operating abilities rather than his business ethics. It is very possible he needed more help than he had in place, and that he was advised poorly as others have claimed. This whole ordeal seems more like a candidate for a class action civil suit rather than a federal case. I mean the question I see is whether or not it was intentional fraud or just a mistake of poor business decisions. Maybe he didn't make it clear enough that results would vary?

There is risk in any business. That is the reality. You cannot claim that someone will definitely make X-amount from your system, you can only show them the potential and results then the rest is up to them. Maybe that should have been made more clear? Again though, maybe lack of business knowledge and/or poor advisement? Why would someone risk his business, family's security, and freedom because of poor caveats and disclaimers unless he or his advisers just couldn't foresee a problem with how he did word it?
I think what Don has achieved without even graduating high school was nothing short of amazing. I hope things eventually work out for him and his family. I hope he sees that he can fight this if he truly is innocent and to not give up because of depression. I have suffered depression for many years and have made very poor decisions because of it, but you have to stay strong and continue to have Hope.

Comments : I bought don lapre's making money package back in the day. and to this date just from the motivation he give's I made over 3 million dollars. This a a real story no bs! He is an amazing motivator. I dont understand how people call him a scam for not selling his products. The only reason is, is because they are lazy and di not work hard enough to earn with the tools don gave them. And no i am not an employee of Don I never met the guy. I just think he is a great business motivator.

Comments : Don Lapre has become a public icon and a part of peoples lives, giving hope for people that are struggling to make ends meet and hope for the future and even through their dreams
might not ever have worked out they still were glad they had their dreams anyway.

When you go to the movies you pay for entertainment,  if you didn't like the movie you wouldn't ask for your money back. Don Lapre doesn't have the perfect plan, what he does is give you the inspiration and the tools to help you do better. What people really want is a
guarantee that if they pay someone a few dollars they will get a $100,000 check in the mail the following week lol :) These people live in a make believe world to say the least. I for one paid the money and got exactly what I paid for, great information that helped me
improve what I was already doing, I also got hope for the future plus some great
entertainment to boot :)
It easy to wish the worst for someone, anybody can do that, but wishing the best for someone who is hurting, is an unselfish, caring act of kindness! Who knows, you may just need help one day if you make a mistake.  I for one choose love. Change peoples hearts and you can change the world!

Comments : Ask yourself one simple question, if you were Don Lapre would you be stupid enough to break the law when you knew very well that the law dogs that be are just waiting to nab anybody of high profile in the entertainment business? Give me a break, I bought his money making package years ago and knew this guy was real smart to say the least! I used every bit of his info and also can say I got my moneys worth year after year. So if you want to blame anyone blame his lawyers & advisors.

How you treat others is a good indication of how you really feel about yourself! What's really sad is all the people that have made nasty comments on the internet like I hope Don Lapre goes to jail etc, etc. Shoot first then ask questions latter right? The truth is people will always be jealous and resentful of anyone who is well off or in the entertainment business, been there done that like they say :)

These are some comments that were recorded prior to Don's passing. They were left shortly after Don was taken into custody. What a show of support!
